In his book, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus, Nabeel Qureshi tells the story of how he converted from Islam to Christianity. I found the book fascinating for the insight it provides into Muslim culture and thought.

Nabeel’s story begins with his upbringing in a devoutly religious Muslim family. Along the way, he encounters Christians unable to defend their beliefs while his culture immerses him in a strong defense of the authenticity of its scriptures and founding prophet. It isn’t until he becomes friends with a Christian well-versed in apologetics that he learns information that calls his entire worldview into question.

Highlights for me included:

  • Seeing how Christian apologetics within the context of a relationship played a key role in Nabeel’s conversion.
  • Diving far deeper into the mind of the devout Muslim than I have ever dived before. This included learning about the nuance between different views within the Muslim faith. This nuance is akin to the variance I see between different denominations in the Christian faith.
  • Seeing the role that dreams played in Nabeel’s conversion.
  • Considering how great the cost was for Nabeel to embrace Christianity.
