This is a bit stream-of-conciousness, just want to share some cool things…
Firstly, I’ve started using Raycast this year. It gives your MacOS Spotlight bar super powers. For example, I have this script I access with Hyperkey* + S whereby I can save an image in my clipboard with JPG or PNG compression so my screenshot shares are reasonably sized (think ~100K rather than 2MB). It has already saved me an hour or more of time of the first couple of weeks I’ve used it.
I’ve only just begun to plumb the utility of Raycast. Their YouTube is definitely worth a follow. Recently they posted this:
Watching that has me brainstorming all kinds of customized goodness for my own machine. In addition, their mention of Resend has me rethinking how I handle transactional email. All-in-all, getting to know Raycast has me tinkering and modding my Mac workflows like never before. You should check it out.
Hyperkey – The hyperkey is a specially mapped key on your keyboard that triggers multiple keys at once (usually ⌘+alt+control+shift on a Mac). To actually do a mapping like that you need to add an app with the capability. Raycast has this feature for example. Once you have a “hyperkey” available, this opens up all manner of new keyboard shortcuts.
