This past weekend our family hiked out to the Twin Arches in Big South Fork. Once you’ve driven all the way out to the remote parking area, it’s an easy 0.7 mile hike to the arches. You can take the trail that comes around below them or the one that has you walking across the top before coming down under via a couple sets of steep stairs.
This was the first time my wife and I had been there since our honeymoon almost 16 years ago. I recommend visiting the arches anytime from late fall through early spring. The warmer it gets the greater chance you have of encountering flying insect activity once you get to the arches. In particular I recall some biting flies who love to hang out in the sandy areas. Fortunately, this time our trip was timed perfectly, no bugs.
